Crazy Amigo - "Insects"

The theme over at Crazy Amigo Challenge this week is "Insects" -- I applied gesso and acrylic paint to a 4/4 canvas and brushed Pearl Ex powders over the surface; the background papers are from K&Co.'s Madeline line, and vintage sheet music. The butterfly is also from K&Co. The rest is pretty obvious--not my best work, but fun to play with, nonetheless.

TMTA-"Let's Dance"

FINALLY, I got to create (translate that to "play") today! TMTA's theme for the week is dancing--I chose to use an image of Fred and Adele Astaire on my ATC. Their story is quite interesting; a photo of them taken in 1906 appears below. You can read about them here.

A Winning Smile!

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you who stopped by my blog and entered my OWOH giveaway, leaving such kind notes for me. I have visited most of your 202 blogs, not always having time to leave a comment, I'm afraid, but I will continue on my magic carpet ride to eventually see all of you. I've received comments from so many wonderful ladies, and have been amazed to see that they have come from all over the world! How awesome is that???! I would also like to thank Lisa Swifka for all of her hard work and dedication in hosting the fantastic OWOH annual event-this year, there were over 1100 bloggers participating-a staggering number! Now, onto my winner: I used a random generator, and mixed up the list first so I could be as fair as possible, and the generator chose BIRGIT of Swapping Howdies as the number one winner! Congratulations, Birgit! Please stop by Birgit's blog-it is so cute, and believe me, there is a LOT of eye candy there! I so wish I'd had more goodies to offer, but family obligations and a trip our of state to see and help care for my mother were my main priorities this past month. So, again, thank you, THANK YOU, everyone who helped make this event so universal and so much fun!

Taking a Break

I'm off to this beautiful city to see: my sweet mother, my newest grandbaby, my son and daughter-in-law, my darling granddaughter, my wonderful sis and her family--I will miss my loving hubby for a few days, but, oh, I am sooooo excited!

GOTHIC ARCHES - "Crackle"

The challenge at Gothic Arches this week is to make an arch using the theme of "crackle-think of something worn, weathered, peeling" and so here's my arch--I cut an arch shape from a piece of cardboard, and then painted it with acrylics and then painted with crackle gel, and again with acrylic paint. I added the image, which was provided by The Graphics Fairy, and added the embellishments--you can see all the beautiful arches by clicking on the names here.

OWOH Giveaway 2010

The "One World, One Heart" annual event was created by Lisa Swifka in 2007 to bring bloggers from all around the world together in friendship. I met so many wonderful people last year, and had so much fun doing this, that I wanted to participate again this year. It truly is a fantastic event and has brought so many people together who otherwise might not have met. You can read so much more about One World, One Heart here. Or just click on the OWOH badge on my sidebar! I'm offering this "vintage shabby" frame that I made; it started out as a plain, wood craft frame and it can be hung on a wall or can rest on a table or desk. (I am still searching my files for the source of the image--I only use images that are offered copyright-free, or ones that I have purchased, and as soon as I find out where I got this one, I'll give credit where credit is due!) As this is a blogging event, my giveaway is open to those with active blogs. Please leave a comment and a way for me to contact you, and I will enter your name; the event ends on February 15th, and I will use a random generator to choose a winner. I look forward to hearing from you! And thank you so much, Lisa!!!!!!
